Welcome to Gold Cobs! Please go our home page for our most current and updated listings. The site map page will direct you to any particular coin you are interested in. Below is an excerpt from our forthcoming (but much delayed) book, GOLD COBS OF THE 1715 FLEET, Chapter Three “The Real 8 Auctions”. Collectors often ask us about how many and what kinds of gold cobs have been recovered from the 1715 Fleet sites. Approximately 11,000 gold cobs have been recovered from the 1715 sites since the early 1960’s. This is a census number, not a guess, as we explain in Chapter Five "A Census of Fleet Gold". The Real 8/Treasure Salvors auctions of the 1960’s and 1970’s offered more the 2000 gold cobs. Allowing for some bias toward better material, these 2000 coins provide an excellent sample of  the range of material found. I reproduce below some of my tabular data without the accompanying text. The Real 8 catalogues are an excellent place to start studying Spanish Colonial gold cobs.
