CONTACT INFORMATION AND TERMS OF
SALE
The easiest way to contact me is via the internet at
terravitan@aol.com
or by phone at 480-595-1293.
If for some reason you email me and do not get a response
within two days, please resend your email or call. AOL spam filters sometimes
delete my mail capriciously.
Depending upon the
time of the year, I may be at my Florida or my Scottsdale home. Mail
inquiries can be sent to Philip Flemming, PO Box 938, Melbourne
Beach, FL 32951. But please email or call me before you send coins
or other material to Melbourne Beach, as I may be in Scottsdale.
This past Fall
(2009), you might care to know, marks my 40th year in professional numismatics.
I began with an internship in Greek Coins at the British Museum. I
started seriously studying gold cobs in the late 1970's. An uncle of
mine, Rupert Gates, had been an original partner of Mel Fisher in
Treasure Salvors (1964). Some of the Gates collection came to me
through his daughter Nancy, and I subsequently met and did business
with all of the Real 8 partners. Sadly, only Lou Ullian is still
with us.
Terms of Sale
1. Authenticity. As you may have noticed, I attempt to provide large
photos and detailed descriptions, including provenance and known
auction history, for every coin I offer for sale. I want you to
see and know about any coin you are considering purchasing. Why
other dealers do not do the same you must judge for yourself. In 32
years I have never had a coin that has passed through my hands ever
questioned for authenticity, proper grading, etc. All items I sell are unconditionally guaranteed to
be authentic and as described. Some of the coins I offer for sale
came into my hands with third party authentication, which I
will pass along to you. I do not rely upon such
authentication. Many of my coins also have a distinguished
pedigree. My own direct experience with New World Spanish cobs goes
back to the last Real 8 auctions of the 1970’s. I am intimately
familiar with the gold & silver coin series I am selling, and I am
certain of the authenticity of every piece I offer for sale. If you
desire still more authentication, I will be happy to arrange whatever you
wish.
2. Payment. You may pay by check, money order, or wire transfer. I
will supply the routing information when you request it. Persons not
known to me must allow time for the funds to clear ( normally 5
business days ). Since I do not accept credit cards, I will try to
accommodate collectors with no-interest lay-away terms on many
items. Certain items, for example, those that I have accepted on
consignment may not be available for lay-away. Deposit and term of
the lay-away will be negotiated individually. Please do not abuse
this privilege. I offer it because I know many collectors need
to finance their purchases in these difficult times, and I do not wish to encourage anyone to
take on high-interest credit card debt.
3. Returns. You will notice that I now provide large photos and very
detailed descriptions for every coin I offer for sale--well beyond
anything you will find on other internet sites or catalogues. Please
study these photos and descriptions before you purchase a coin. Ask
questions. If the coin you receive is in any way inaccurately
pictured or described on the site, you may of course return it. This
has never happened, but "to err is human." Any evidence that
you have altered, damaged, copied or commercially exploited a coin
voids your return privilege. Encapsulated coins must be returned in
their original, undamaged holders, and all original certificates
must be returned with the coin or your return privilege is a voided.
4. Shipping. All coins will be shipped fully insured via the USPS,
either as Registered or Insured mail. All books & catalogues will be
shipped fully insured via USPS Media Mail. You may request
some form of expedited delivery. I must pass along the actual cost
of shipping, which I will estimate for you at the time you place
your order. I do ship internationally with some frequency. I
prefer UPS or DHL, but as you wish. International buyers are
responsible for making with their own Customs arrangements.
5. References. Some
of you new to Goldcobs.com and new to collecting Spanish Colonials
coins, international buyers in particular, may not know our
reputation. You may request references and client testimonials. I
don't feel it is proper to post these on the site or list my
numismatic affiliations, but I understand you may want this
information. Call or email me.
Thank you,
Phil Flemming, Ph.D.
